Recommendations to formalise the World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry (WNUSP)
There have been several attempts to develop and formalize a worldwide user and survivor
network over the last 10 years. None of them have been successful. A small group of users
and survivors met in Santiago this weekend (September 4 - 6, 1999) to make recommendations
to the users and survivors at this Congress, on the first steps needed over the next two
years to formalise the network. The meeting was funded by the International Disability
Foundation (IDF) and Nils Gussing from the IDF came to the meeting to give technical
advice. He has indicated that IDF would look favourably on continuing to give financial
assistance and technical advice to the development of WNUSP.
